HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar chaired the 13th meeting of the High committee of Public Transit Project
HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Abdulaziz Chairman of the Council of the Riyadh Development Authority and the President of High Committee of the Riyadh Public Transit Project chaired the 13th meeting of the High Committee of the Riyadh Public Transit Project which was held on Monday, 19th February 2018 at ADA Headquarters based in the Diplomatic Quarter. The meeting was in presence of Mr Abdul Latif bin Abdul Malek Al Shiekh, the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Minister of Finance Mr. Abdullah Al Jadaan and Minister of Transportation Mr. Nabil bin Mohammad Al Amoodi.
HRH Prince Faisal Bin Banda said: “The project is now 68% complete and is operating on plan..
He continued: “By the end of 2018, we will see the trial operation of trains on many lines of the project. During the meeting we reviewed a number of items and agreed decisions.”
Project’s Work Progress is ongoing in 250 sites
The President of Projects and Planning Eng. Ibrahim Sultan said: “We reviewed the progress of the Riyadh Metro project. Work is ongoing at 250 sites alongside all lines of the network and across the city of Riyadh. We have construction works in both iconic and ordinary stations (85 stations), in addition to 7 depots. Tunnelling is fully completed and viaduct construction is 98% complete. Progress on at-grade lines is at 86% and also track installation is at 68% , and 90% of utility service network has been transferred that more than 330 Km.
Sultan continued” We have also now launched streetscape enhancement works around the new metro.
Of the 452 train cars ordered from SIEMENS, BOMBARDIER and ALSTOM, 300 have been built and 60 cars are now in Riyadh.
Preparation for Trial Operation:
ADA continues preparation for the trial operation phase. At this meeting we agree the principle of issuing tenders for operation and maintenance contracts of bus stations and bus network facilities, in addition to the Riyadh Public Transit operation and control center. This contract will cover three main areas of Riyadh city (North – South and Center)
