Prince Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman honored Trainees’ students at Riyadh Metro Project

On behalf of the Prince of Riyadh, HRH Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Abdul Aziz sponsored a ceremony of participating students of the Summer Internship Program (2018) of the Riyadh Public Transit Project, This ceremony was held by the ADA on Sunday, 2nd September 2018 at Tawaiq Palace in Diplomatic Quarter, The ceremony honored 149 male & female students from 11 Saudi Universities.

His Royal Highness expressed his happiness and gratitude to HRH King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and HRH Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman and also to the president of ADA for their special support to achieve this project.

HRH Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Bin Abdul Aziz also praised cooperation between the Arriyadh Development Authority and Saudi universities’ training programs supporting the aims of the project that seeks to transfer knowledge and technology to local manpower and bring specialists in different areas of expertise.

Technology and Knowledge Transfer in Public Transit Sector

ADA launched training programs within the Riyadh Public Transit project in order to maximize the benefits of this leading project to society.  In order to achieve technology transfer of public transit to young Saudi people ADA has recruited specialists to train develop young Saudis. ADA encouraged the Saudi students to work closely with the experts from the international metro consortia.

149 Trainee students participated in the Summer Internship Program 2018

This year, the Summer Internship Program had 149 trainee students (male & female) who came from 11 Saudi Universities: King Saud University, Imam Mohammad Bin Saud Islamic University, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral, Prince Sultan University, Al Faisal University, Prince Sattam Bin Abdulaziz University, Majmaah University, Al Qasim University, Al Yamama University, Al Taif University and Dar Al Uloom University. All students had one of 7 scientific specializations: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Architecture, Chemical Engineering, Architecture and Building Sciences, and Construction Engineering.

The Training Program covered many aspects of the projects such as: Major Project Management, Construction management, Design, Train Control Systems, Operating and Maintenance, Crisis Management, Health & Safety, Quality Control, Personal efficiency and Cultural Awareness.

Visits to 6 Manufacturer sites around the world.

The 2018 summer internship program organized field visits for groups of trainees that allow them to visit 6 countries around the world included: (Italy, Denmark, United Kingdom, France, Netherlands, and Spain). The main objective of these visits was to give students proper training inside the factories that are manufacturing many of project’s elements: such as Metro cars, systems and state-of-the-art items while other groups received operating and control training for Riyadh metro.

392 Trainees during the past 4 years.

Since its inception 4 years ago, the Summer Internship Program has attracted 392 (male & female) trainees from 15 Saudi Universities, under the umbrella of similar individual projects launched by ADA in partnership between Saudi Universities and other Stakeholders, to strength the technology and knowledge transfer within the Riyadh Public Transit Project.

The ceremony of Summer Internship Programs was attended by Trainees and their families.  At the event they were shown a short documentary about the Summer Internship Program.  This highlighted all activities of the program such as meetings, seminars, field visits, theoretical and practical activities. After that the Vice President of ADA presented certificates to the students of the Summer Internship Program 2018.
